The lead mare of the Odeska herd of Khaev had always been a woman of great pride. It was pride for her own accomplishment. Pride for her herd and the members of it and pride of those in her family. She she was proud of her single son named Rew'ieVheuw who had already grown to adulthood and moved to become a politician. She had been considering for a while becoming a mother again, but had not found a suitable male. Her desire became further complicated when it was found that the virus that had stricken many planets in 2561 had rendered her species sterile. It hadn't stopped her desire however, aware that there was technology beyond Khaev that could allow her to have her own children. Asking around had led her to the information about lab procedures that allowed a sterile individual to have children. After much research and debate she decided to go through with the procedure. She had to leave the herd for a brief time to travel off planet; once for the procedure, and the second time to pick up her foals.

Her foal or foals were to be a species called Ungulatam, a species that had been unknown to her before her research into having kids began. They were newly aligned to INCEPT with similar body structure to her own species. Because of the Similarities  between species they were one of the few recommended to her. A good deal of research on her part had lead her to pick the species, feeling most comfortable with the idea of raising something similar to herself on many ways.

She had a total of three foals, all of which were male. Two of them had four legs and were called Errisoda in their own Culture. The last one had two legs and was called a Artiodac. All three foals were able to chase after there mother hours after their birth and introduction to her in lab. Patches would have to make an extra effort to feed her foals as they had to be bottle fed as opposed to feeding from her, and had to be extra vigilant as they got brave enough to wander. They were named Se'Geoshes, Eui'ReVhe, and Vhe'Eila.

Se'Geoshes went by Oshe to everyone. His marks were like her marks, piebald patches on his body. From birth he had been a loud child, even before words he made many sounds. It often meant he was talking over his brothers, but neither seemed to mind. He was taught for the first part of his life as was traditional to the herd, learning about all the different positions by following his mother around.

Eui'ReVhe was loud himself, but only in bursts. He was called Revhe for short. When he was still very small he took on a slightly bad habit of tripping on purpose to get other herd members to laugh. He liked the sound of laughter, and his affection for the sound only grew with him. He had a slightly morbid fascination with the circle of life and watching creatures hunt. Not just the herd members, but the animals near by as well when he was able. He took the most interest in lessons he could get from the hunters, and when he had the choice always asked his mother to watch them.

Vhe'Eila (also know as Eila)sometimes had issues keeping up with his family and often ended up picked up by his mother when he was small if they had to go somewhere quickly. He was a bit of an odd child, humming to himself often; but forgetting to chat and getting distracted easily. Unless he was prompted he often would be silent (or silent in words) for an entire conversation. He showed equal interest in all the jobs around the herd, though was most content when he was simply being told stories. Stories from his mother, herd, travelers, or Datsur; all kept his attention and he would try to memorize them to share.

They were nine when the order to Evacuate Khaev came down the line. The Odeska had been lucky their herd lived a few hours away from the capital when the invasion hit and that they had the ability to move around it to a recon point to wait for extraction. It didn't make things any easier, the state of the space port as they were herded on a shuttle was hard to ignore. All three boys were shaken right along some of the herd members not used to such Chaos. Patches had no choice but to leave her boys to one of the mares that was calm and focus on the ones that seemed more panicked to keep order in her herd. The boys would not resent this later, it just meant clinging to their mother as they traveled towards safety. The Odeska like many others of Khaev would be sent to Cruix. They had to get IDs and registered and stay in camps while a place for them was worked out. Things remained generally chaotic for several years, but eventually settled. Life changed for them in many ways, even with traditions present.

Oshe was not sure he liked the new lessons he had to take. They had known a few words in UIS, but now had to learn the full language. It was not just the kids of course, many of the other herd members were working to learn it as well to make life easier. On top of the normal herd related learning he now had a second school type to do. It was all on a digital pad and was all about math, reading, writing, and what were standard schooling subjects on Cruix. He hated it, but would learn in anyway at his mother's urging. All the children got to sit together when working on the pads, so that was at least fun. He never became less chatty as he grew, and found it one of the few uses he could think of for knowing UIS as it let him openly chat to others that knew the language. While growing Oshe would eventually come into his power. It was a limited form of Telepathy that allowed him to project his thoughts, but not to read those of others. This had been extremely annoying to many until he got a blocker as he officially could never be stopped from speaking.

By adulthood Oshe had learned to control his ability, learning the feeling of it being on and how to limit its strength when used. His schooling had become more rigid then with his siblings as he was the only one of the three to ever show interest in being his mother's heir. He was fine with this and took pride in the matter. He did not immediately need to take the position from her when an adult, so instead took up a job as a translator between the former residents of Khaev that did not know UIS and those that only knew UIS that they had to work with. While translator's were available, some people were simply more comfortable with a living person then a little box.

Revhe struggled with schooling on the digital pads a bit, often getting low grades because he simply didn't want to work with them. He eventually had to get a tutor to help him pass all his basic classes, but once done was glad for it. He learned UIS much better, more so when a real instructor came to work with them or he was practicing out loud with one of his brothers or other children. He continued to have a deep interest in hunting, and by his teen years was following the other hunters out into areas set aside for such. He was good with a bow and a bola, and preferred taking game down and then finishing it by hand. He learned to revel in the feeling and that of slowly peeling a kill apart to make sure it was all used effectively.

It became his full time job as an adult, along with curing the meat. He and several other hunters had a small stall to sell there goods from, and he would take turns with them doing that; promoting how fresh their items were based on how long it had been since he killed it. Some were unsettled by his marketing, but business was good enough not to stop him. When all else failed at market a joke, or taking a comical fall also seemed to help. He still loved people laughing and smiling and knew he could get that being a clown as easily as bringing home a hunt to share.

Eila was the only one of the three that took well to the learning pad. Sure it was in his own sort of cloudy headed way, but he always had things done on time. He in fact would generally work ahead of the lessons as long as they were unlocked, not seeming to note that he was supposed to only do the ones set to the current date. UIS came fairly easily to him as well and he learned the full language fairly quickly, even if he wasn't always talking. The only time that he really did get talking was when he could share a story or ask about a new one from the members of his herd and family. He eventually began to write the stories down so he'd never forget them, wanting to stay sharp on his favorite ones.

Through schooling and being well spoken of by others he eventually became a record keeper for the area. Taking stock of numbers of families and people in general so the government could remain up to date on the data. When not at work he continued to write his book, having settled on something organized to someday be printed; a memory of the stories of the people. He didn't really know how one went about getting a book out through a publisher, but was sure he could just make hand copies if they wouldn't take it once he was done with it.
